How Not to Complete an Assignment

When I have a complex assignment to complete, in this case an analysis of a survey for a consulting firm in Japan, I get a lot of other great things accomplished.  For example, yesterday afternoon, instead of working on my project, which will when completed result in an actual paycheck, I cleaned my refrigerator from top to bottom.  I removed every item, every shelf, every drawer.  It is now a thing of beauty, cleanliness, and organization.  Unfortunately, it does not come with a paycheck.  Back to the grindstone!

So clean!

  1. I do the same thing sometimes - what I want to do instead of what I should be doing. For example, I should be catching up on my bookkeeping instead of web surfing.

  7. LOL! Great post. I do the exact same thing. I work on everything else besides what I actually need to get done. But hey, now your fridge is organized! =)

  10. I had to laugh when I read this entry. When I was teaching school, and grades or IEPs were due, my desk would suddenly become very clean. Maybe that is why my desk is so messy now... no more deadlines.

  12. Oh, I so know what you are talking about! Even when logic tells me if I just START, that dreaded project will be done all the sooner. Sigh. But fantastic job on the refrigerator - the cleaning of which is a dreaded job of its own sort!
