Good Night and Good Luck

“I was trying to feel some kind of good-bye. I mean I’ve left schools and places I didn’t even know I was leaving them. I hate that. I don’t care if it’s a sad good-bye or a bad good-bye, but when I leave a place I like to know I’m leaving it. If you don’t you feel even worse.”  -- J. D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

Not wanting to leave without knowing it, I am taking a cue from Holden Caulfield: I know I am leaving.  I think my blog has run its course, so I am saying good-bye.  Thank you to everyone who has read my blog.  It has been so much fun getting to know all of you.  I hope to still stop in and read others' blogs when I can, but my own blog will disappear shortly.  It's time for me to discover what is next around the bend.

“What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? - it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.”  -- Jack Kerouac, On the Road

  3. Even though I only discovered your writing awhile ago, I've enjoyed all I've read here. Blogging, if you do it right, consumes a lot of time and energy. So wherever you redirect your time and energy, enjoy.

  7. I think I'm almost in the same place as you. I've been doing a little soul searching and I've come to the conclusion that blogging is taking up way too much of my limited free time. I'm wasting precious hours browsing on my laptop when I could be "doing". In a way, blogging has become a second job instead of the creative outlet I'd like it to be. I think I'll be joining your club in the very near future. :)

    Enjoy your freedom!

  11. Oh- I am sorry- I do think that there are seasons in our life that cause us to move on to something else. God bless you in your journey. You could always just leave your blog out there as kind of a history to look back on at some point. Hope you enjoy whatever you choose to do next- xo Diana

  13. I will miss your blog! I have often thought about closing mine. It does take up so much time if you make regular post. But then, I remember it is a way to document my life for my children. They will have all these photos, I have taken, and the stories that go with it. Enjoy this next step in your life.

  15. Sad to hear you're leaving your blog. I guess all things come to an end. I realise how much time a blog might take up. I've been with my blog for some time (kinda like a relationship) and at times it can be an unruly beast. I must say I enjoyed reading all your updates and comments even if I only discovered your blog a few months back. One of my favourite blogs. Wishing you all the best in your future adventures.

  27. I've only just read this and Chris has wondered why he has heard 'Oh no! that's so sad.' I've told him that the Southern girl that moved to the Midwest will not be blogging anymore. I often tell him about your posts and that's how I refer to you. Probably because we're in England and so I imagine where you are in the world. I will be very sorry to not read your posts anymore. I love your blog. I hope you will pop by mine still or drop me an email to let me know how you are doing. I do understand though. Blogging is quite a commitment and sometimes it's hard to find the time. Good luck with everything. xx

  28. I don't know how I missed this post, but you've been on my mind this morning, and not just for the recipe, either! I haven't blogged as much as I once did because we're so busy.

I'll look for the recipe and email you the one I'm talking about….I'm brain dead at the moment!
