Alfie Gets Cozy

Brrr!  It's been cold, and Alfie got chilly.  Okay, I just think Alfie got chilly because, after all, he didn't show any signs like shivering or his teeth chattering.  But with highs of 10 degrees Fahrenheit, I get cold, and, as my kids will tell you, if I am cold, I assume everyone is cold and will foist hats and coats on all and sundry.  So . . .

Well, okay, maybe I just wanted Alfie to have a sweater.  Especially after the husband told me it wouldn't work and that Alfie wouldn't wear it.  Alfie not only wears it, he wags his tail when I get the sweater out of the basket.

I pulled this gorgeous pure wool Pendleton sweater from the attic where it has languished since I stole it from my mother ten or more years ago.  My mother is a tiny woman; there is no way I was ever going to fit into that sweater.  So I cut the sleeves off (don't tell my mother), slipped it over Alfie's head and front legs, and he was ready to go.

Alfie might have had doubts right at first, but once we tried it outside, he got it! Warmth and style -- what could be better?

Alfie looking askance.  What the heck am I wearing?

  1. I am cracking up! I love his expressions and he looks SO cute in that sweater! Now I want one for Rosie! It is freezing here today too. It was 10 degrees when I got up this morning and we are expected snow on Friday. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  2. He looks all preppy in that sweater and it matches his fur as well. I am thinking maybe I should put my sweaters on today because it is a tiny bit chilly in the house today. You are a good doggy mommy.

    1. Thanks! I first painted my little office that color and liked it so much I expanded to the area by the front door and then the whole entry hall.

  7. That's so funny, he looks great in his sweater and a perfect way to see if he really like wearing one before going to the effort of knitting one. You are going to knit him one of his own, aren't you?

  19. Oh...how handsome! It's neat that he likes it. And great idea cutting up the sweater for him. I tried to put a little sweatshirt on Layla today and she acted very annoyed, I think it was just too thick. She likes her little sweaters. My floors get cold and since she's only about 5 inches high she just shivers all the time. Maybe I need to get her slippers! lol!

  23. Alphie looks like he's happy and warm. I knitted a sweater for Chloe, our British Lab last year and people laughed and said she would hate it. Not only does she not hate it, she's gotten it out of her basket a few times and brought it to me to put it on her!

BTW-my parents both retired from Pendleton years ago and I and all my siblings worked there at one time or another. That's no dime store sweater Alphie's wearing! :-)

  38. Aw. What a sweetheart! I love this. I bought Scout a hoodie a few years ago, but she just panted like I was suffocating her. She has a little more hair than your guy does though... and mostly she's a drama queen.
