The weather has cooled off lately and returned to more normal springtime temperatures, and the spring flowers are loving it. My bleeding hearts are not quite as tall or as bushy as in previous years; I think the quick warm-up and then cool-down might have confused them, but the blooms are still as lovely as ever.
Our bluebells are also in full bloom. We have lots of bluebells along the property line with our neighbor on the west side. In fact, they are really kind of like weeds. Most years, I pull the dead blooms off to keep them from setting seed, but they still spread like crazy. They grow out of the stone wall, in the lawn, and have even migrated to a spot in the front yard under our hackberry tree. Luckily, they are a pretty pest!

ReplyDeleteYour flowers are amazing! Things are really blooming here also, the dogwood tree beside my front door is gorgeous! I just hope the weather here gets a little more "spring like" instead of in the high 80's!

ReplyDeleteYour bleeding hearts are beautiful! Mine were crushed last year and didn't come back! I thought at first our dogs had been the bad guys, but they were innocent. A bear [we live in the mountains] chose that spot to dine on our sunflower seeds! The bird feeder was hung up REALLY high, but some seeds had fallen on the ground! Had to apologize to the dogs! Haha! They forgave me.

I love those blue bells. When I was a kid and lived on the farm we had woods full of them. I have tried for ever to grow them, never works. I have not seen one for awhile. Thanks for sharing. I am your newest follower. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Richard from My Old Historic House.
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous pictures! All I see in my yard is grass and weeds. Those bluebonnets are pretty but they do tend to spread, don't they? They were everywhere when we went to Texas for Spring Break.
ReplyDeleteThat warm up and then rapid cool off did a number on my daffodils. They didn't last long at all. Oh well, the warm temps for a solid week were totally worth it! Those bluebells are lovely, if you're going to have a 'weed', I'd take those any day. :)
