Luna Shawl aka The Eyepopper

Another shawl, ya'll!  I'm on a shawl kick lately.  The Southernism "ya'll" is because I just returned from a visit to Tennessee where a waitress at O'Charley's about darlin'-ed us to death.  I definitely said "ya'll" when I was growing up in the South, but I never called anybody "darlin'" or "sugar."  Still, I think it beats having a waiter or waitress address your group as "you guys" when at least half the group is female!

In February I wrote about my first shawl, made with the "Ruby" pattern by Anastasia Roberts, which you can purchase on Ravelry.  I liked it so much, I made another.  This time, however, I used three skeins of Cascade Luna Paints yarn in Solar Flare.  It is a wonderfully soft and cozy worsted weight Peruvian cotton, much thicker than the microfiber I used in the first shawl.  I thought three skeins, which I already had on hand, would be enough, but I had to cut short the ruffle. It's really, really bright, but I think it will be fun with a simple t-shirt and plain cardigan.

  3. You're too funny! I'm a girl from the Midwest living in the South and I'm starting to say "y'all"..it actually comes in real handy too!
Love your shawl and your first one too. Gorgeous yarns! I just not a shawl girl...I garden and paint and cook and I could never keep one on much less clean! But I may make some for sitting in bed reading at night in the Winter. I turn down the thermostat and my shoulders and chest get cold so it would be great for that! What's next? LOL!

  4. What a lovely splash of colour against your armchair. I'm very much a shawl person so I love it. I find shawls are so practical when I have to teach in a drafty classroom or invigilate an exam. I'm making one for myself at present but I am getting sidetracked with swap makes so its taking a long long time to finish!

    ok sugar.....keep well

  7. HA HA---We here in TN are VERY friendly... We hear alot of 'Darlin's' and 'Honey's'......I also heard a "You-ens" recently. We were in Sam's and the door lady who checks our purchases said "You-ens have a good evenin!" ha ha ha... Welcome to Tennessee. Where were you in TN????

Beautiful shawl.. I love the colors and pattern.

  8. It really is a pretty color, dar.....oooops! Occasionally, here in Texas, a man will address a woman as "little lady". I just laugh about it. I guess it does beat "you guys".

  9. Perfect pops of color in the middle of this long Minnesota winter. I really ought to get back into a craft again. It's been years.

  16. Love the shawl, it is so bright and beautiful. We said "you Guys" all the time in Michigan and I swear I still do. I lived in Virginia for 2 years and had to force my self not to say y'all the whole time I was there.

  21. Lovely shawl! I love to make them but don't wear them. I just give them away and I should start wearing them at least around the house. Thanks for the visit and comment on my blog. We must be related, I haven't heard or see the word "ingrate" for years! Too funny! You made me laugh out loud. Love your blog and I'm glad I found a fellow Mid-westerner.
