Trumpet lilies, that is. If you stop by our house at the right time in the summer, you are greeted by fragrant yellow lilies by the front steps.

A hand-me-down from my mother's garden many years ago, these lilies reach more than four feet tall, so they do require staking. |
We have been repainting the porch this summer, and I have enjoyed the occasional bursts of scent wafting from the lilies when a breeze blows. It makes the arduous task of scraping and painting a little bit sweeter.

I wish you could smell them! |
How lovely and really special since they are from your Mom. You have a pretty porch but I know painting is a tough job, especially when it is hot. Hope you have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous, I wish I could smell them too.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
They are some gorgeous flowers.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous... We have them (ours are called Golden Splendor) --but ours are gone for this year now. And YES, I have smelled them... Some others I recommend which smell just as good: Touching, Pink Perfection, Garden Pleasure, Regale, and Simplon...

So bright, and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the bright yellow. And they are so big. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI wish, too, that I could smell them. They are stunning. And how wonderful that they came from your mother's garden. Even more special. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteOooh, these lilies are gorgeous and I bet they do smell just wonderful. Definitely a lovely addition to porch decor. :-)
ReplyDeleteStunning. What a lovely welcome to your home. I too, wish I could smell them! xx

Beautiful flowers, in fact they look perfect! I wish they would stay around all summer long.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You've been painting your porch. We've been painting our deck/roof terrace. Arduous but worth the results! X
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sight to greet you and your visitors!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! What an extra gift to have the scent too. I miss my porch but I too remember painting it....it's a job with all those posts but I practically lived out there in the summer time.
ReplyDeleteWish I was there to smell them too! I think that is so lovely that they were born from a batch that grew in your mum's garden. Such lovely reminder :)
ReplyDeleteImpressive and just look at that intense yellow!!! What a welcome to your house!
ReplyDeleteVery much like your dog walking beanie too on your previous post!
keep well
Amanda :-)
