Spring has Sprung

Spring hasn't really sprung here in northern Illinois, but this crocus opened up today and brought me the first sign of what's to come.  This little sweetie is an escapee that came up in the grass outside the garden.  I'm so glad it did.  It's just what I need to fortify myself for the rain or snow that's predicted for this afternoon.

  2. Oh, lucky you! I've got the crocus greens, but no buds yet! It's already snowing here. Since we haven't had to deal with it much this winter the fluffy white stuff is still beautiful and hasn't lost any of its appeal. I keep looking up to admire it. :)

  5. Thanks for visiting my blog! I am looking forward to springtime as well :) it just started raining in Northern California where I am, so it's looking like the sun won't be out for a while

  6. Nothing quite as cheering as a little, brave crocus pushing up through the brown grass. Thanks for sharing this photo!

  8. One of the sweetest flowers, I love the beautiful crocus. Like you we have enjoyed a few spring surprises. The daffodils are still blooming and my verbena is blooming! Lovely photo….

  9. What a beautiful flower. It must be wonderful to know that Spring has finally arrived. As for us down here in Sydney, we're all sad to now be in Autumn especially as our summer failed to arrive. Another day of rain here today. When will it stop!

  10. I'm a fellow Illinoian. Best winter of record, but still ready for Spring. Thanks for the reminder that it's right around the corner. Liz
